Memoirs of Eminent Monks

高僧传The Memoirs of Eminent Monks (Simplified Chinese: 高僧传, Hanyu Pinyin GāosēngzhuĆ n) is a compilation in AD 519 of biographies of monks in China from the introduction of Buddhism to China up to the Northern Wei Dynasty.

Recording the stories of the famous monks from the Yongping of the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasties, and dividing the monks into 10 categories: translation, interpretation, divine, meditation, Minglu, mortal, chanting, Xingfu, Jingshi, singing, etc.
